Post 2 : What do I cook today?
What do I cook today?
This is a question I ask myself every single day, morning and night, during breakfast and afternoon snack.
As a young kid I did not learn cooking nor had an interest in cooking, I could say still rather don't have that interest or have failed to cultivate an interest in that skill. There are times that a dish may turn out nice but most often I HATE cooking. I am mother and a wife and that too in an Indian household and no matter how modern an indian woman can be at the fucking end of the day she is expected to cook daily for her family. I mean hey If I had a husband chef would he still cook for me and the family after a tiring day at the restaurant. Maybe if he thinks his cooking skills are obviously superior to mine and that his testbeds might not like what I cook. Or rather that he would cook lovingly for all of us while I happily did my work and I would happily help him clean out the glassware and the utensils.
But Alas that is not the case. My husband does help out but he is so slow to cook that sometimes I wonder he does it deliberately to irk me out so that I take hold of the reins or maybe he is just inherently slow. I know it is the later since I have spent almost three years with this man this December.
SO coming back to my topic. What do I cook today specifically? I was thinking Eggplant Parmigiana. But then I have to make something else for my kid as he is a picky one. That is a topic for another time and another post. Then I decided to make Pav bhaji but I just done feel like making it. I can surely make something with Paneer and might end up with mix vegetable recipe. And I also thought about making Chole. All in a days work for a night time thought on what to make for dinner.
Maybe in some other lifetime I will be free of this responsibility of cooking daily and would just home to freshly cooked meal.
